A compostable main film combined with an incompatible zipper, valve or label can complicate the package's intended end-of-life.
There is no universal answer.
Compostable packaging can make sense when the package is strongly associated with organic waste, when composting infrastructure exists, or when regulations specifically require compostability.
Recyclable mono-material packaging may be a better solution when an effective plastic collection and recycling stream exists.
