What does the one-way degassing valve of compostable coffee bags do?

One-way degassing valve, also known as an air release valve or pressure relief valve, is a small plastic or metal valve that is commonly used in packaging of products like coffee, tea, and other perishable food items. The valve allows gases, such as carbon dioxide, that are naturally produced by the coffee to escape from the package while preventing outside air, moisture, and contaminants from entering the compostable coffee bags.

Compostable coffee bags with one way degassing valve works by allowing gas to exit through a one-way passage while preventing air from entering through the same passage. This is accomplished through a small membrane or filter that is designed to open and close in response to changes in pressure inside the package. When pressure inside the package exceeds the pressure outside, the valve opens and allows gas to escape. When pressure inside  eco coffee packaging is lower than the pressure outside, the valve remains closed to prevent air from entering the package.
